Born into a tight-knit wrestling family, Paige and her brother Zak are ecstatic when they get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try out for the WWE. But when only Paige earns a spot in the competitive training program, she must leave her loved ones behind and face this new cutthroat world alone. Paige’s journey pushes her to dig deep and ultimately prove to the world that what makes her different is the very thing that can make her a star.

The feel-good comedy, which is based on the 2012 Channel 4 documentary of the same name, stars Florence Pugh as Paige, who signed to train with the WWE at the age of 18. (Three years after wrestling in the developmental league, she became the youngest wrestler at 21 to win a Divas Championship—and it was her debut with the main wrestlers, NBD.) Fighting With My Family (which is currently holding an 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes) also traces Paige’s relationship with her brother Zak, who also tried out to train with the WWE but was never called back. This is their story.

Saraya-Jade is the daughter of Patrick Bevis and Julia Hamer-Bevis, better known as “Rowdy” Ricky Knight and Sweet Saraya in the wrestling world. In the 2012 documentary, the family is described as “the biggest names in modern British wrestling.” In the opening minutes, Sweet Saraya is introduced as someone who wrestles “when she’s not stitching them up or washing their leotards” while Saraya-Jade and her brother Zak are pinned as “the future.” Her half-brother Roy (from Patrick’s previous relationship), known as “The Zebra King,” is also a wrestler.
